Dr. Theekshana Pathirana is a highly trained oncosurgeon and cancer specialist from Sri Lanka with an interest in a few areas on oncosurgery.His training spans both Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, equipping him with comprehensive skills in managing complex presentations.

Dr. Pathirana graduated with Second Upper Honors from the esteemed Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. Following his internship at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, he entered the General Surgery specialty program and earned his MD in Surgery from the University of Colombo. He then chose Surgical Oncology as his subspecialty, completing two years of rigorous post-MD training at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama.

Before moving to the United Kingdom in 2023, Dr. Pathirana served as an Associate Consultant Onco-Surgeon at both Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama, and Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura. In the UK, he completed two advanced surgical fellowships, namely the advanced colorectal and peritoneal cancer surgery fellowship at Christie NHS trust -Manchester and the Oncoplastic Breast Surgery fellowship at University Hospitals Derby and Burton.

During his time in the UK, Dr. Pathirana gained specialized expertise in all aspects of breast surgery, encompassing diagnostics, therapeutic procedures, and cosmetic surgery. He is a proud member of the Association of Breast Surgeons (UK), Association of Colproctology in Great Britain and Ireland, ENT UK  and the British Association of Surgical Oncologists.
