Life begins always inside a cell that divides and multiplies. Normal cells work together synchronously and with harmony. They come together to form tissues that form our body organs. The disease called cancer develops when part of normal cells begin to divide and become malignant or dangerous. If defense mechanism of the body are not capable of destroy these diseased cells, their number continues to grow forming a tumor. Over time, however, the tumor will gradually invade neighboring tissues. The cells can also use the cancerous lymphatic or blood to reach the body of the adjoining regions. This way a cancer can multiply by forming new tumors called metastases. The word "cancer" is a term that is generic to 150 different types of tumors affecting various body organs, tissue and even bone marrow. The League against Cancer is available. Study tells that one can prevent cancer practicing healthy habits like avoiding drinking, smoking, less expose to scorching sun. These symptoms are found in smokers with chronic bronchitis. In the case of more advanced disease, there is often fatigue, loss of appetite and weight loss. This is also accompanied with pain when the cancer spreads and moves into the neighboring organs. The causes of lung cancer in 9 out of 10 patients are caused by smoking. The cause-effect relationship between smoking and lung cancer has been proved in numerous scientific reviews. The risk of lung cancer is more in a chain smokers. Smoking small pack a day can increase the risk of cancer 20 times more than a non-smoker. There is no safe number of cigarettes! New research shows that breathing in smoke filled environment can also cause lung cancer. There is also an increased risk of lung cancer to people exposed to asbestos, chromium, nickel, arsenic. The risk of lung cancer is increased when people inhale asbestos fibers. Prevention from lung cancer is possible if detected early. No smoking is by far the single most important prevention against lung cancer. Detecting lung cancer on radiograph is possible. Tumors can attain a diameter of about one centimeter. An X-ray or CT scan of the chest can diagnose and confirm the suspicion of lung cancer. Examination of respiratory tract (bronchoscope) and examination of tissue (biopsy) will confirm diagnosis. The choice of treatment of lung cancer depends on its diagnosis. Patients suffering from non-microcellular lung carcinoma if detected in early stage, when the tumor has not yet developed, the patient has a good chance of recovery after operative treatment. Unfortunately, only one quarter of all lung cancer can be treated by operation. If no surgery is possible, then radiotherapy is preferred in case the disease is limited to the thorax.
