As far as the superficial form of melanoma is concerned, it has been found that this is the most common form of skin cancer that occurs in the United States. This form of cancer appears to be developing more among the women as well as the younger adults. In case of women, the most common place where this cancer leaves it sign is on their legs, while in case of men, it occurs between the neck and the pelvis region. However, it must be noted that these are some of the main places where they occur, but it is not essential that the skin cancer will occur in these places only, it may also occur in other places of the human body. As per the other facts associated with the melanoma/skin cancer, it has been found that the lesions that occur are usually irregular but appear several different colors that include black, brown, red, white, pink, gray and blue. The next form of the melanoma/skin cancer is the nodular melanoma that is really considered to be very aggressive. This form of cancer appears to be common among the males who have exceeded the age of 60. The growth of this type of cancer is very rapid that penetrates the skin there than spreading over it. Nodular melanoma develops on its own and is not formed as a result of any existing mole. The signs of this cancer appear to be dark that can bleed or even become ulcerated. The third and fourth type of cancer includes the lentigo maligna and acral lentiginous melanoma skin cancer respectively. The former is the type of disease that generally gets developed during middle age or beyond. The signs of the lentigo maligna appear on the face that is very difficult to detect the presence of cancer as it looks similar to a simple sun spot. The color of the sign is brown and is irregular and slow in appearance but gets darker with the increasing age. The latter that is the acral lentiginous melanoma the signs of which appear on the palms, soles of feet, beneath finger nails, inside the mouth, etc. These appearances are really very tough to be detected as the symptoms of the cancer development.
