Symptoms of Cancer Can Be of Many Varied TypesBY: Ritu Choudhary | Category: Other | Submitted: 2010-06-26 01:19:42
Several symptoms, sometimes minor and common to many illnesses, may lead to the discovery of cancer. This makes the cancer more lethal and destructive. If a cancer is not detected in the early stages of its existence in human body, the chances of treatment becomes remote. In this article we would discuss various symptoms of cancer making is easier for detection. The intensity of symptoms of cancer can be broadly classified into the following categories: • The intensity of symptoms of cancer are dependent on the affected organ • The intensity of symptoms of cancer are dependent on the stage of discovery of the disease. The chronic intensity, increased frequency and intensity of symptoms once observed needs to be immediately brought to the notice of a cancer specialist (oncologists). Immediate medical opinion must be taken once a doubt of cancer existence is perceived. Weight loss, fatigue, impaired general condition may be manifestations of cancer, but unfortunate is that these symptoms are analogous to many other common disease. Here we will try to discuss the symptoms of some of the most common types of cancer detected in the majority of human beings on this plant. Disease like lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, prostrate cancer, testicular cancer is most common. Lung cancer is mainly associated with severe and continuous cough which continues indefinitely. In advanced stages of lung cancer the coughing can be accompanied with blood. Shortness of breath, impaired general condition, ganglion at the base of the neck or at the collarbone are some of the most common symptoms of lung cancer. If a lay person notices that the patient is having problems or difficulty in swallowing food or even liquid, or is having loss of appetite, weight loss, chest pain then it must immediately brought to the notice of physician for further advice. Breast cancer is usually detected once the patient complains of lump in the breast. Lump feels hard when touched and it gradually grows with the passage of time. For some patients, it can manifest as nipple discharge, a red patch on the breast, crevices. The symptoms can also include abnormal peeling skin and unusual pain in the breast. The lymph nodes (glands) in the armpits may also get hardened and feeling of discomfort in this region is common for all types of cancer. Colon cancer as in many cancers, the manifestations and symptoms are not very specific for this particular disease. The chronicity, increased frequency and intensity requires a medical opinion. Visible and observable symptoms in colon cancer are seen only in the advanced stages. This is one reason why there has been so many casualties related to colon cancer. If colon cancer remains untreated for a long time then there is a greater risk of cancer spreading to the adjoining organs. The risk of spreading of disease in colon cancer is higher as compared to lung and breast cancers. Colon cancer can effect the organs like liver, lymph glands etc. Common symptoms of colon cancer are like abdominal pain of recent onset, consistent problem of bowel-onset, or the recent change in bowel disorders. Any alteration in the general condition of the patients accompanied with bowl-onset disorders must be tracked. Colon cancer is also very susceptible for patients who already have abdominal tumor or liver metastasis. Appearance of complications such as bowel obstruction or intestinal perforation must be immediately recorded and discussed with physicians for further advice. Prostate cancer progresses slowly for years and years. Cancer is sometimes never discovered in living patients. Many men die with prostate cancer and only after their death its discovered that the patient has died of prostrate cancer. Some symptoms are like need to urinate often and difficulty in retaining urine or, conversely, to begin urinating.
