Surgeries Used For the Treatment of Different Forms of CancerBY: Ritu Choudhary | Category: Cancer Surgery | Submitted: 2010-04-14 09:28:15
There are several forms of cancer that have come into focus from past several years. Based on the form of cancer, there are varieties of cancer surgery options that have evolved. The first and the foremost among them involve the ones that are utilized in case of lung cancer treatment. The surgical resection is used for the treatment of lung cancer. This is the process by which the tumor of the lung is surgically removed. This is the form of treatment that is recommended when the cancer has not spread beyond the lung into other parts of the body. There is a long procedure that is involved while performing a resection that may also involve minimally invasive surgery or a full operation. However, it has been found that there are several factors that contribute in the decision making process about which type of surgical treatment is required to be used in case of the particular form or stage of lung cancer. The lung cancer surgery is concerned with two relevant procedures that involve thoracotomy for making an incision through the chest wall and the other one is the median sternotomy is performed by entering the chest cavity through the breastbone. There are many other alternative surgical procedures that are involved in case of the treatment of lung cancer that include an anterior limited thoracotomy (ALT) which involves a small incision to allow entry, again through the front of the chest, the anterior axillary thoracotomy (AAT) and the postero-lateral thoracotomy (PLT). There are cancer surgery options that are also available in case of the breast cancer. The breast cancer treatment can only be enabled if the patients are careful in examining the changes or abnormalities on their breasts. This will help you to go for the successful treatment. The cancer surgery related to the breast cancer involves radiation therapy, axillary lymph node dissection (lymph node removal), and/or breast conserving surgery, etc. However, it is always suggested to the women to go through the different procedures that are involved in the cancer surgery only after a fair discussion with the doctors who can well examine your case and then suggest the proper treatment options. However, there may be some of the negative effects of these cancer surgery treatments. As its explanation, it may be said that there is a nerve that runs under the arm that may have been damaged while going through these cancer therapies, procedures or surgeries, in turn causing the breast pain afterwards. There are several researches and other forms of discoveries that is being tried to be developed in order to make the treatment of the breast cancer easier and successful. One more form of complicated cancer is the colon cancer that also provides for the numerous surgical treatment options. However, in this case, a proper diet is needed to be followed in order to prevent the cancer from reappearing after the surgery is been done. The diet that are rich in antioxidants and low in fat content are the most appropriate ones in case of the treatment of colon cancer. In case of following a proper diet after the colorectal cancer surgery, it is required for you to make sure that you choose foods to eat that come from natural plant sources. The next form of cancer is the prostate cancer. The best surgery that is involved in this case is the robotic keyhole surgery that is also referred to as laparoscopic surgery. In this cancer surgery, the doctors use robotic arms and special instruments while performing the surgery. Similarly, there are cancer surgery options that are also available in case of the treatment of skin cancer.
