Most often, prostate cancer can be treated when it gets enlarged. Several types of treatment are available for prostate cancer. Hormone therapy is intended to slow the proliferation and spread of cancer cells. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy relieve symptoms and limit the development of cancer. Discuss your prostate cancer treatment with the medical team that will help you to choose the most suitable option.

Radical prostatectomy

An operation used to treat prostate cancer and involves removing the entire prostate cancer. Your doctors will help you to prepare for this surgery. Feel free to ask any questions that come to the spirit. The operation usually lasts for 2- 5 hrs. The incision will be at the abdomen (retropubic incision) or the crotch (perineal surgical approach). But the surgeon may also choose the technique of laparoscopy. Lymph nodes will likely be taken and analyzed to see if the cancer has not already spread around the prostate. If the cancer remains confined to the prostate, the surgeon will remove the prostate surrounding the urethra and seminal vesicles. If the cancer spreads beyond the prostate, the doctor may decide not to remove the prostate and choose another form of treatment like hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc.

Laser prostatectomy
To treat enlarged prostate and relieve your symptoms, your doctor may recommend a surgical procedure called laser prostatectomy, which involves using lasers to destroy part of the prostate surrounds the urethra. As the laser destroys the prostate tissue, it can not be considered to detect a possible cancer. Your doctor will have to rule out cancer before surgery. The procedure itself usually takes about 45 minutes. The doctor inserts a cystoscope (telescope end shaped tube) into your urethra to see prostate urethra, either by cystoscopy or on a video screen. The laser is inserted into the cystoscope to the prostate and is then used to destroy excess prostate tissue. This treatment often causes swelling, so it may be useful to place a temporary catheter in the urethra or directly into the bladder to empty the bladder.

Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate
Transurethral resection of the prostate is a type of surgery used to treat mild increase in the volume of the prostate, also called benign prostatic hyperplasia. This operation is performed to allow urine to recirculate normally. Transurethral resection of the prostate is a type of surgery used to treat mild increase in the volume of the prostate, also called benign prostate. Intravenous infusion is installed at your arm or your hand, to allow the administration of drugs against pain. The operation is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. The doctor slowly insert telescope-shaped tube end into the urethra called a cystoscope, to see the blocked part of the urethra. In addition to this display, the cystoscope enables the introduction of instruments used to remove excess prostate tissue, process called as resection. The pieces of tissue were collected in the bladder and the doctor removes it through bladder wash with water. These tissue samples are sent to the laboratory to verify the absence of cancer.

Laparoscopic prostatectomy

The prostate surgery is rather proposed to men less than 75 years. In addition, treatment with drugs, Laparoscopic prostatectomy used to control the evolution of cancer. During the operation, under general anesthesia, prostate and seminal vesicles are removed. During operation surgeon makes 4 or 5 small incisions in the abdomen. It fills it with gas followed by insertion of camera and the instruments through these incisions. It collects lymph nodes for analysis and check if the cancer has not spread around the prostate followed by removal of prostate and seminal vesicles.
