Peritoneal mesothelioma is one of the rarest diseases. Peritoneum is the membrane that lines the abdomen. It helps protect the contents of the abdomen. It also produces a lubricant fluid that helps the organs to move freely in the abdomen as we move. A mesothelioma tissue lining the abdominal cavity is known as peritoneal mesothelioma. It affects the coating that protects the contents of the abdomen. Overall peritoneal mesothelioma is a type of cancer that affects the abdominal wall.

Its only known cause is exposure to asbestos, and in most cases, the disease appears after several years of exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma is a peritoneal tumor that occurs in the peritoneal membrane and it is not detected until the tumor has begun to develop. Great mass of the tumor which gave rise to disease might look like with many different subtypes of mesothelioma.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma Cancer is approximately one-fifth of all types of mesothelioma. This type of asbestos cancer is the second most prevalent after the pleural mesothelioma. As pleural mesothelioma, mesothelioma peritoneal may be malignant or in Benin. Here we are going to discuss about peritoneal malignant mesothelioma. Histologically, four types of malignant mesothelioma have been identified: epithelial, sarcomatoses, mixed and low differential. 75% peritoneal mesothelioma is of the form in which epithelial cells mesothelium are prepared in formations called tubulo meshwork.

There are two explanations on how asbestos fibers can penetrate the peritoneum. The first cause explains that after ingestion of asbestos, it is trapped by the trachael mucus fibres which then move into the bronchi. Some of them to stay in the intestinal tract and it will move through the intestinal wall into the peritoneum. The second explanation is that fibres located in the lungs can enter in the lymphatic system and be transported to the peritoneum.

Early symptoms of mesothelioma are non-specific and may delay diagnosis. In general, breathlessness, chest pain and cough are common symptoms of pleural mesothelioma, but in some cases they may not be sufficiently serious to push the patient to a medical consultation. Peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms usually include abdominal pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, weakness, nausea, and abdominal swelling. As mesothelioma progresses, the pleural effusion occur in 95% of patients and this symptom that ultimately leads patients to consult their physician. Depending on the localization of the tumor, other problems such as respiratory problems and severe pain may be experienced. The liquid often accumulates in the peritoneal cavity, a condition known as of ascites. Over time the peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms can become more serious.

CT scan and X rays are usually the first step towards peritoneal mesothelioma detection. Although perfect diagnosis is made by getting a piece of tissue from the body of the victim. Currently, there are treatments available but only symptomatic; no treatment is available which gives 100% cure from peritoneal mesothelioma. Prognosis depends on several factors, including size and stage of the tumor, the scope, the type of cells, and whether or not the tumor responds to treatment. However, the options for the relief and treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma sufferers were opened, in particular to those whose cancer is diagnosed early and treated vigorously.

The prognosis depends on several factors, including size and stage of the tumor cell type and if the tumor responds to treatment. However, peritoneal mesothelioma treatment has been improved in time. Peritoneal mesothelioma treatment includes: the chemotherapy, drug therapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Peritoneal mesothelioma causes many deaths each year. Although this is not the most common form of cancer, many new cases occur each year. However, further research and clinical trials may cure disease and saving lives of people who have been victims of this terrible disease.
