With 240,000 new cases estimated in 1995 (135,000 to 105,000 men and women) cancer based health concern is at the center of attentions. It is estimated, in fact, that two men and three women are likely to have cancer during their lifetime. The chances of getting cancer increase with the age. Ten people for every 100,000 cases registered for cancer has children in the age between 5 to 14 years. But this value is as high as 1700 people for every 100,000 cases above 75 years of age. Cancer is of the most common cause of unnatural death among human beings. Nearly one in every three death among men is caused due to cancer and in women it is one in every four deaths. If we compare premature casualty due to cancer with accidents, nearly one in every five death among men is caused due to accidents and in women it is one in every six deaths.

The most common types of cancer that affects human beings in general are breast cancer and prostrate cancer. More women are affected due to breast cancer than any other form of cancer. Similarly for men, more men are affected due to prostrate cancer than any other form of cancer. Both, breast and prostrate cancer can be treated efficiently these days if they are diagnosed early. The chances of getting rid of cancer increases a lot if early detection of cancer can take place. This is one reason why mortality rate in cancer has come down in last few years. Another major cause of death among humans is due to lung cancer. This type of cancer is mainly caused due to intake to excessive tobacco inform of cigarettes etc. Excessive tobacco affects the aero-digestive track and lungs. Working class people are mainly affected by lung cancer.

In order to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of cancer it is very important to maintain a statistical data base of cancer case history. All observations must be recorded as a case history as and when monitored. In Europe the case history of all cancer patients are maintained form the date of detection till the last treatment given. Even in case of any mortality the cause of death shall be recorded with noting duration of illness etc. As on today the main activity applicable for successful treatment of cancer is surgery. This information has been confirmed by all major hospital data base accumulated together.

The global consequences of the mortality can be approximated statistically by comparing the estimated number of incident, cases and deaths reported in 1995, and the median age of over-coming and death. This analysis can also be divided into four groups of cancers as it appears. The first group of cancers is lethal and causes maximum mortality among human beings. This group of cancer can cause maximum death and fast deaths. An example is like a cancers of the esophagus, lung or stomach. The second greoup of cancers that induce a high mortality rate with respect to time are like ovarian cancer or hematological. The third group identifies cancers of the head and neck that are the cause of mortality which is not high but very fast. The last group of cancer includes cancers for which mortality is "low" and continues in the body over a period of time. An example of this type of cancer includes thyroid cancer, etc.

As discussed above, all four types of cancer if left undetected will develop a malignancy. It is most important for cancer treatment to get an early detection and treatment, if possible form day one.
