Cancer is on the rise and it is extremely important to have a plan on how to cope up with this unfortunate situation. A mindful strategy needs to be followed by both the Patient (person diagnosed with Cancer) and the Friends (or relatives). Following are some important tips which will assist in making a more lively ambiance around the Cancer patient.

1. Discuss about Cancer but avoid talking about it too much about it:
Avoid over consoling or over discussion with the patient because it will remind the him again and again about the pain he is already going through. He is probably thinking about it more than you know. Unless you are not a medical professional then keep the topic of cancer discussion to a minimum level.

2. Keep the surroundings happier:

Talk to person about the wonderful memories you have shared in the past. Giving gifts like chocolates and flowers are generally a great mood booster. Make the person feel important by asking for an advice about something.... A depressed person wants to feel happy, important and energetic.

3. Look at the positive aspects:

Talk about all the positive things like - "Thank God, your cancer was detected on time and we will be able to get it cured". or "We have planned a trip to Europe since you always wanted to go there" or "Lets go to your favorite restaurant today". Positive attitude plays a significant role in cancer survival and overall health management.

4. Get the best treatment possible within your budget:

A good treatment will improve the confidence of the patient. The feeling that one is in good hands is very assuring and a huge confidence booster.

5. Visit a psychiatrist or a therapist if needed:

If a person feels that he has been emotionally devastated since the diagnosis of cancer, then consult your doctor if it is fine to meet a psychiatrist. Since psychiatrists are professional people they can generally handle things in a much better way than a person with non-medical background.

6. Meet people:
The last thing a cancer patient should do is to cut off self from rest of the world. When a person is alone, all sort of negative thoughts creep in the head and loneliness can even destroy the desire to live any longer.

7. Charity work:

If the financial situation of a cancer patient is strong and he does not have enough time to live, then charity work can really provide peace to his mind.

8. Join cancer support groups:

There are several support groups (like the Breast cancer society), which often hold meetings and events. It is nice to know what other people are doing or what did people do to cure their cancer. These cancer support groups are a real morale booster.

If you have any more ideas then please leave your comments.
