The cancer surgery is considered to be the most effective technique for curing cancer of different parts of the human body. As far as the lung cancer is concerned, early stages lung cancer that is Stage I & II is usually treated by surgical intervention and a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. In fact, in case of the second stage of cancer, it has been found that it may also be treated by surgery in certain instances. However, the later lung cancer stages are treated by chemotherapy alone or may also be treated by combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. By using these options, the tumors shrunk in size and then the cancer surgery is applied which is then more effective on the shrunken tumors. Cancer surgery involves resection procedure that is described as the process of removing the cancer tumor or the cutting away of the suspected cancer diseased tissue.

There are several other methods that are also available to the people as standard techniques with more efficiency and effectiveness. The first among these techniques include thoracotomy that is defined as an incision is made through the chest wall; and the other technique is the Median Sternotomy, in case of which the surgeon cuts through the breastbone in order to access the chest cavity and the lungs. In both these techniques of cancer surgery, it has been seen that they involve considerable recovery periods and pain for the patient. There are certain alternatives that are also available for the people to make the patients comfortable and provide them relief from the pain from which they suffer. There are other techniques involved in the cancer surgery that include Anterior Limited Thoracotomy or ALT that is performed on the front of the chest and makes much smaller incision than that in case of thoracotomy or median sternotomy. The other technique is the Anterioraxilary Thoracotomy or AAT that involves an incision on the front of the chest close to the underarm; and the last one is the Posterolateral Thoracotomy that is also termed as PLT involves an incision through the back or side of the chest area of the patient.

One more advanced technique involved in the cancer surgery is the Video-Assisted Thoracoscopy or Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS). In this process, a video camera allows the surgeon to see the interior of the patient's chest and the location of cancer tumors using a high-powered television screen. This helps the experts to analyze the whole condition of the patient's that particular part of the body and accordingly plans the surgery. The cancer surgery totally depends on the nature of the disease and the part where it has originated or the part to which it has spread and affected. The cancer surgery pattern in case of colon cancer is different from that of the lung cancer. In case of the colon cancer, it has been found that there is a long time that is required for getting recovered completely from that situation. One of the side effects of the colon cancer surgery is fatigue that ultimately makes the patient tired and weak.

The cancer surgery is the most effective and successful method of treatment for cancer surgery. The surgery that is recommended in case of breast cancer is postoperative therapy. Breast cancer surgery may be less extensive or radical where the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes or to other parts of the body. Not only in these specifies forms of cancer, but the cancer surgery option is available for other kinds of cancer disease also that include skin cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, etc.
