The nature of symptoms varies depending on the organ which is infected by cancer. The technology has greatly developed in last few decades and hence cancer diagnosis has become more quick and definitive. Following factors affect the cancer diagnosis in general: Clinical Cancer diagnosis (general analysis) • Instrumentation are used which allows the doctor to see the first signs of the disease. • Blood tests and urine tests analyses the following like: - RBC, WBS & blood platelets count - Level of hemoglobin - Creatinine rate Endoscopy In endoscope flexible tube (thin tube) fitted with a optical camera is inserted inside a cavity. By help of the optical camera experts can see inside the affected organ. Endoscopy can thorough analyze the stomach and bronchus. In gastroscopy optical camera is inserted into the digestive tract taking tube from mouth. Generally no anesthesia is required to do endoscopy but some operative is done under light anesthesia. Endoscopy takes approximately 5/10 minutes and best this is it is absolutely painless. Similarly in bronchoscopy the tube with optical camera is inserted through the nostril. Colonoscopy is method of exploring the colon: the endoscope enters through anus which of course is under anesthesia. Colonoscopy can also take samples during retarding. Radiography for bones etc These days' doctors try to avoid radiography due to its side affects but still radiography is irreplaceable for lung cancer and bone cancer. Ultrasound is used for the visualizing organs This is the latest technology and is absolutely painless. Doctors apply gel on patients and then let a probe move over the area that needs to be examined. The image is clearly displayed on the computer screen monitor explaining the details of the region. Mammography for breast cancer Mammography is nothing but a breast x-ray which can detect all type of problems may be small or big in the breast region. Mammography though cannot provide a final conclusion but surely gives insight to doctors for further examinations. MRI is excellent for bone marrow, brain etc. The patient is made to lie on their back and made to enter in an artificial tunnel fitted with all kind of diagnostic gadgets. MRI has hug number of high resolution x ray cameras that take photographs, finally bringing them together in computer for analyzing. MRI scan as popularly called nearly takes 30 minutes for examination. The best thing is that the process is totally painless for the patient. CT Scan CT scan is a high resolution scanner that can scan the intricate part of human body making completely visible to doctors for through examination. The scanner system includes a bed that can slides inside a type of a big ring shaped tunnel like MRI. The process of CT scan takes less than 5/10 minutes for complete examination. PET scan PET scan has proved extremely useful for the detection of cancerous cells in any part of human body. PET scan allows injection of a fluid very similar to glucose but slightly radioactive in nature. Surely the level of radiation is less and it does not harm the organs. The radioactive emission helps doctors to visualizing cancer cells by use of suitable signal receivers. PET scan process is completely painless and takes nearly 30 minutes for completion. Biopsy Biopsy is the final stage of any cancer diagnosis. Biopsy is mainly done after doctors already know that a particular organ is infected with cancer. Biopsy is done by taking a sample for the infected organ for examination. Histology is a process of cell analysis that is done on the sample to confirm the degree of cancerous spreading and malignancy. Of couse biopsy is done by affecting local anesthesia.
